■ ■» THRHE BUILDINGS BUBET. (By Tm,Eoiu.rn,) WANGANUI, June 16. A fire broke out m tha Avonuo on Sunday morning at four o'clock, destroying a block of buildings occupied by G. I). Jonos (tailor), Johnson and Co., of Wellington, ruerchante, snd Beale and Co , sewing machinists. The fire originated m Jones's workroom and the brigade had aomo difficulty m confining it to the thrco shops. Moults crockery warohouse adjoining, caught, but wbb extinguished before much damage was done. The ineurancos are Jonos, £400 m tho Now Zealand on stock j Johnston and Co. £350 m the National on stock ; Bcale and Co. £200 m the Standard on stock. Tho buildings burnt were insured for £250 each. Tbo National having £500, and the London and Lancashire £250. Mr Qoldsbury, manager for fiealo and Co., escaped with nothing but what ho stood m, and loses all his clothing and the effects of himself and family. Moult has £1000 m each of the South British and Phcenix on stock, and the buildings were insured for £350.
