A PAUPER RATEPAYER.
The following letter from Mr Harrow wns read at the meeting of the Waiteinata County Council the other day, and was received with roars of laughter :— " To the chairman and members of the Waitemata County Council Brother paupen, — Yesterday Mr Camble read a resolution passed by your Council authorising me to lay out the sum of £1 10a m making a break-wind to keep theaaad from blowing from the road on to my land, and I now ask you to carry out your portion of tne agreement, the condition on which it was to be given having been comp'ied with by meAnd now, for tie- benefit of the paupers and beggars on the Waitemata Council — as I believe few, if any, are m a better position than yonr bumble servant, who is reduced Jo low ,ia to be obliged to apply to the Charitable Aid Board for assistance— l may mention that my took, • Sew Zealand as I have found it, ' is »ow ia the press, and by special leave oF those m authority will be cold by all the booksellers m Europe, Asia, Africa, America, Australia, and Oceania, and m the chief towns both of Heaven and Hell, from which last-named you may obtain copies through Mr O.
