IMMIGRATION AND EMIGRATION.
(By Telegraph.) WELLINGTON, Jusb 12. The immigration and emigration returns for the colony for May show the arrivals to have been 990, and the departures 1850, leaving a balance agiinst the colony of 869. The arrivals were — from New South Wales, 675; Victoria, 223; the United Kingdom, 137 ; Tasmania, 19; Western Australia, 5 ; Queensland, 2, other places, 29 ; total, 990. Tne departures were— to New South Wales, 959; Victoria, 409; the United Kingdom, 317 ; Tasmania, 25 ; Queensland, 2 ; other phce*, 98 ; total, 1850. Of tho arrivals 831 were adulta, and 15G children. The departures were 1629 males, and 221 children.
