Psll KIkOTRIO TeIEiVRAPII — OOPTRIHQT.) (Per Peess Association.) (Receivoci 2 a.m., April 17th.) ' THE ZEALANDIA. Sydney, April 10. Sailed— R. M.S. Zealandia, for San Francisco vta Auckland. COLONIAL EMIGRATION. Melbouene, April 10. A deputation waited, on Mr Gillies, Premier, to-day, requesting him to protest agaiust the clause m the Western Australian Bill preventing legislation imposing restrictions on tho emigration of British Biibjects to the colonies without reference to the Imperial authorities, fn reply Mr Gillies said that he did not think that the clause m question applied to Chinese emigration. However, he would consult the Governments of the other colonies, and then refer the matter to Lord Kuutsford. THE PRIMACY DIFFICULIY. Referring to the Primacy difficulty, The Argus while accepting Bishop Sutor's statement that the election waa irregular, states that it doe 3 not justify the position he assumed before the public, and by no manner of special pleading can ho get rid of tho fact that he consented to take, part m the election. The spirit of ecclesiastical law m New Zaaland certainly is that tho Primate bo elected by the church, and whether Bishop Suter i 3 technically right or wrong, there is no possible doubt that he lia3 violated tho spirit of the law, and brought the Anglican community into embarrassment.
