WAIMATE BOROUQH COUNCIL.
31 meeting of the Waimate Borough Council was held on Monday oveniug. Present — Hi* Worship tho Mayor, Mr J. Sinclair (in the chair), and Councillors Evanß, H. Watts, F. Smith, F. Jones, W. Petit, A. Watt, and J. Cameron. - Tho following correspondence) was read and considered : — From Mv B. Orwin, secretary to tho South Cuutci-bury Charitable Aid Baurd, in referenco to valuation of borough. Tha clerk explained that ho had replied and sent tho necessary information. From several petitioners, asking that tho lump at present near the temperance hall, bo removed to opposita tho corner of Kett'a light-of-way. The ivquest was granted. From tho Education Board stating that tho section applied for had been withdrawn from sale. From tho Surveyor-General and Mr W. J. Steward, in referenoe to tho railway croasiug at Hillary street. It waa decided to do nothing further in the ma! tor. From Mr Q. Manchester, asking for parmission to make ari addition in wood-to his graiu store. ■ : \ ; It was decided to grant tho. request subject to tho approval of the council's engineer. It was decidodto take down tho windmill from Victoria Park and re-erect it again in the summer timo. The clerk was instructed to call for tenders for the borough pound for twolvo months. Tho works committee wcro directed to inspect tho fence around tho library buildings, and to report to next meeting. Accounts amounting to £47 9a 2d were :iussed for payment, and tho Council roao.
