Pflß BIBOTBIO TEtESBiPH — COPFKIHST.) (Per Pbess Association.) (Received 1.10 a.m., April IGth ) THE HAUROTO. Sydney, April 15. Sailed — Hauroto, for Wellington. VALUABLE COAL DISCOVERY. A seam of coal six feet thick has bean discovered at Liverpool, twenty-two milea south of Sydnny. This Beam ! is 2509 feet down, and the discovery proves beyond doubt that tho coal seatnß are not thinning out towards Sydnoy to such an extent as is commonly believed. Id fact it is a matter for consideration whether coal will not in future bo worked under tho Oity of Sydney at a not much greater depth than the Liverpool find. Mr T. W. E. David, a geological surveyor, and one of tha highest authorities on coal measures in this colony, has determined that the western and southern coal seams hitherto thought to be distinct aro one and the same, and only interrupted by intrusive rocke.
