DUNEDIN, Jan. 11,

At the invitation of the Governor,' a number of membors of tho fire brigades of Otago, Southland, and Canterbury, assembled here on Saturday. _he torohligbt procession ,at night was a great success close on 800 men taking part in it. At 9 o'clook the brigades left the Town Hall, and after marching through the city, headed by tbe Ordnanae Band, wore convoyed in cars to Government House, where tho captains of the various bodies wore introduced to His Excellency by Superintendent Bobertion, oFDuhediri; An escollout suppor was provided for tbo men by

His Excellency, who in the oourae of a short speech, heartily welcomed the visiting brigades to tho city, and stated that the valuable services they rendered were appreciated by his Government and himself. Captain Grey, of Chrißtohuroh, and Superintendent Robertson replied. The gathering broke up a quarter of au hour before midnight. On Sunday the brigades Jatteuded St. Matthews' Ohuroh whero they were addressed by tbe Rev. T. Flavell, of Chrißtchurch.
