At a largely altowkd meeting of tho Agricultural and Pastoral Satiety resolntions wero unanimously passed protagting against the leccnt order compelling the tar branding of sheep, and requesting its withdrawal at least as far as Hawke'a Bay ia concerned. It was argued that long- wools would need handling every two months, which would put sheepfarmers to great ospenee, while the result would ba a aeriou* deterioration m the value of wool. One firmer, who had branded some And tent the wool home, eaid that it brought a 14 per pound less than tho uobrnnded wool ul •I'vt fame typ«. It waa stated that the caua< this new order was that a certain farmei ■.«» Aldington Saleyarda had had his sheet ■stolen, «old, and removed perhaps to i distant part where they could not be traced Various speakers pointed out that any farmoi who deiired to use the tar brand could do ac under the Act without an order making i compulsory to all sheep-owner*.
