Brisbane, May 17. A man named Power and two women have been drowned at Bustard Head, near Port Curtis, through a boat upsetting. NEW SILVER FIND. A rich silver mine has been discovered sixty miles from Cloucurry, a copper mining centre m Burke district. An asaajgires 800 ounces to the ton. The lode is said to be traceable for thirty miles. (Received 10 p.m., May 17th.) A DENIAL. ■Sydney, May 17. Lord Carrington absolutely denies that ho intends resigning the Governorship of New South Wales. A CONFESSION. The Government have received information that the woman upon whom ths man Buttner committed a criminal assault for which he was sentenced to death ib of bad repute. The woman has confessed to hating encouraged Buttner, and the Government havo, therefore, decided to commute the death sentence.
