MISCELLANEOUS.
The Prince of Wales has, perhaps, the 1, finest railway coach in Europe. It contains t seven roomß, thero being a study with a little g library, a couple of bedroom?, a dressing--5 room, and a bathroom. The bedroom is most e luxuriously furnished in old gold silk, being a lighted by electricity, and tbe panelling is 1 beautifully painted. At the Circuit Court at Broken Hill a man ° charged with murder was found guilty of manslaughter. The evidence showed that the 0 accused had a knife in his hand when Fielder J attacked him. Medical testimony was given 0 to the effect that deceased contributed to his 1 own death by persisting in leaving bed against instructions. Judge Stephen passed the curious Bentenoo of sixty seconds' imprisonment. Tho Tongan correspondent of the Fiji Times, writing under date March 30th, says : — " ihe vvliulo at present is turned upside down, owing to 11 whim of tho old king, who i» shortly to proceed to Vavau, where a grand lakulaka is to be held, and the young people from Tonga and Hnabai are under orders to proceed there shortly, and not fo go emptyhanded cither, but to provide funds for presents to the chiefs," &c, &c. For the ) last month, in anticipation of this event, the 1 people much against their will, have been ■ forced to go to the principal townß to learn, [ forsooth, to dance. If they refuse to go they , are thrashed without mercy by order of their superior chiefs. This is against the law, in violation of the constitution granted to tho peoplo by the king. The Premier (Bev. 8. , W. Uaker)is not at all to blame in this matter — is, in fact, dead against the people being thus obliged to waste their time over these : miserable dances. ; The noted quality of the Coffee made in the Cafes of Turkey, France, and America 1 is chiefly due to the fact that only Fresh Roasted Coffee is used ; so that none of tho volatile oil and other essentials are lost. Ask your grocer for Anderson's Coffeo, and you will liavo a beverage alike refreshing and stimulating, as it is fresh roasted and ground at the factory, Timaru. — [Advt.] For remainder of Newt »«» Fourth Pag:
