The escaped French convicts, Cury and Gasparini, were again brought bofore tho Police Court to-day, before Dr Giles, R.M., on a cbargo of stealing tho cutter Martinet from Noumea harbour. The evidence of Henry Collingwood, first oilicor of the barquo Howard, was heard, and a further remand for eight days was then granted on tho application of Mr Willinmson, who said that the foreign warrant issued m New Caledonia for tho apprehension of tho prisoners had not yet arrived. Ho was m receipt of a telegraphic communication from Wellington stating that, owing to tho infrequent communication between New Caledonia and Sydney, five or six weeks further must elapse before tho warrant and the officers dispatched from New Caledonia to bring tho men back could arrivo hero.
