Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, replying to a question, Btated that the letter of Archbishop Croke, urging the Irish people to pay no taxes, was engaging the attention of the Government. PROFESSOR OF AGRICULTURE. London, Feb 28. Upwards of twenty applications have been received for the position of Professor of Agriculture m the Department of Agriculture of South Australia. Several of the applications are from excellent men. The selection will not be made until the arrival of Mr Downer on the -ttb inst.
