CHRISTCHURCH PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is tho Christchurch Corn Exchange report for the week ended Friday, 14th January : — The summer weather of the laßt few weeks has brought on tho crops wonderfully well, wheat especially, which has improved considerably and promises to yield a fair return and good quality. The oat harvest has commenced and several samples have been exhibited for sale, but as yet little business has transpired. Ryegrass seed is offering plentifully ; the samples are irregular, consequently prices between buyers and sellers are at present rather wide. "WHEAT. Stocks of old are m very few hands and prices are not any lower, millers still buying m small parcels. Pearl and Tuscan at 4s 4d to 4s 6d ; Hunters 4s 4d s second quality is rather weaker at 4s to 4s 2d ; chicken wheat is lower, and 3s lOd is the top figure for fair samples. OAT 3 Have had considerable stir during the week m consequence of a few shipping orders being to lund. Local demand is quiet. Milling is quoted at 2s ; heavy short feed at Is lOd to 1b lid ; inferior kinds Is Bd. baelbs-. Prime malting would find an outlet m limited quantities at 2s 8d to 2s lOd, and good bold feed at 2s 2d to 2s 4d. Beans and peas are nominal at 3s to 3s 6(1. Ryegrass is offering freely at 3s to 33 6d, but buyers are chary about buying. Prices are scarcely settled as yet between vendor and buyer, but if we quote 2s 6d for inferior, 2s 9d for medium, and 3s for extra wcli cleaned farmers' parcels, we shall not be far out. Machine-dressed is not yet offered. Cocksfoot is not yet offering. POTATOES. Out of season. DAIBT PBODT/CH. Very weak. Butter quiet at 4|d to 6d, and cheese varies from 4d to s|d. The above prices are those paid to farmers and delivered f.o.b. Lyttelton, sacks extra.
