GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

On Tuesday evening last the first meeting of the new Board wa3 held m the office. I'BESENT. Messrs Taylor, Pearpoint, Quinn, Mundell, Berry, Mhslui and I'unl.ip. Tho Clerk took tho chair and called on the members to elect their chairman. Mr R. H. Pearpoint was unanimously electel, nnd briefly thanked tho Board for tho honor conferred on him, and read extracts from the bye-laws and tr.o Act relating to the procedure of business for information of new members. COnnESPOKDBKCB was read as follows : — From tho ranger, enclosing list of horses nnd rattle found wandering at large m the streets during the past, month. After n discuPßion on the subject it was proposed by Mr Mnndell seconded by Mr Maslin nnd carried— " That the ranger be instructed to impound all animals found wandoring nt large and m tho event of not being able to pound, the owners bo proceeded against under the Police Offences Act." From tho Property Tax Department, Wellington, intimating that a voucher for payment of £90 Os 4d nmount of subsidy due to tho Board under tho Local Bodies' Financo and Powers Act, 1885, had been insued. From ,tbe Hakalero Town Board, ailing for a copy of the board's bys-kws.

Tho clerk stated he had forwarded name. MISCELLANEOUS. Mr Maslin tpoke as to asphalting being Hone by the board for privato persons and proposed — "That no work bo done by the board for private individuals except upon n written application for consideration by the board "- Curried. It whs dreided that the bye-laws of tho board should be revised and a notice of motion was tabled to be considered at next moeting — " That tho board amend Bye-laws Nob. 1 und 2, and draft Bye-lawß Nos. 8 and 4." Messrs Maslin, Mundell, Q.uinD, and tho Cl.uirinau wore appointed a committee for tho same purpose. The aum ot £200 was ordered to be taken from deposit account and placed to current account of the board. Messrß Quinn, Berry and Taylor were appointed a Works Committee, and Messrs Dunlop, Muslin und Mundell a Financo Committee for tho ensuing quarter. A dio seal was ordered to bo obtained for use of the Board. It was resolved thai ono copy of The "Ratepayers* Manual be obtained for the Botud. The chairman nnd MrMn9lin were appointed to interview Mr Q. Taylor m reference to obtaining a right of way through his property to tho river bed. The overseer's report for tho month dealing with certain contracts and t';e work performed by the Board's workmen, w-is road. The overseer was authorised m reference to Mooro's application, to put down a few loads of gravol to make tho entrance to his Ecction passable. In regard to horso posts that had been put down m the pathway previously to asphalting, it was decided that tho Works Committee should deal with the matter. Mr R. Morrison having nt a previous meeting requested tho Board to carry storm water flowing on to his land lenspd from tho board to tho river bed, tho chairman was requested to interview tho Road Board m reference to the came. Accounts amounting to £81 2a 6d were passed for payment. Tho board then resolvod itself into a Local Board of Health. The Inspector of Nuisances report was read. The meeting then terminated.
