In the Legislative Assembly last night the proposals of Government for the celebration of the centenary of Australia were rejected. HEAVY LOSS BY FIRE. The loss by the destruction of Cameron's tobacco factory is estimated at LSO.OOO. The insurances amount to less than half that sum. | Received 10 p.m., Sept. 24fch/| MEAT MARKET. The meat market remains unchanged ; beef is at 328 per lOOlbs, and mutton 2£d per lb. COMMERCIAL. New Zealand wheat is quoted at 4s 3d per bushel; oats, 2s 6d; maize, 3s 3d per 561bs. Sugar Company's No. 1 pieces, £25 per ton. (Received 10.15 p.m., Sept. 24th.) THE SYDNEY FIRE. The total amount for which Cameron's factory was insured was L 42.000. Of this, LIOOO was insured m the South. British Companyof New Zealand, LIOOO m the National, LIOOO m tbe Standard Insurance Company of New Zealand, and LI4OO m tbe New Zealand Insurance.
