Bubear got the best of the start, but fouled, Beach immediately after getting away, and although the latter's right rowlock was injured by the foul, he managed to win easily. The course was between Wandsworth and Hammersmith. The heat between Matteraon and Teenier was rowed between Hammersmith and Kew. Matterson gained a lead of a length, taking Teemer's water, but the latter spurted, and rowed Matterson down just below Barnes. Matterson then collapsed. (Received 8 p.m., Sept. 2nd.) In the final heat for the sculling sweepstakes, Beach took the lead, sculling at a high pressure speed, Teemer being nowhere. Beach stopped at Mortlake and waved his cap. The course was from Putney to Mortlake, and the race was witnessed by an immense crowd.
