♦ .HUNT CLUB 3TEEPLEOHABES. (By Telegraph.) Chbistghubch, Aug. 11. The Christchurch Hunt Olub Steepleohases "wore held to-day, m fine weather. The attendance was small. The principal event, the Open Handicap, of 75 aova, about three miles, ■Was won by Mr V. Butler's Faugh-a-Ballagh, Mr Lunn's Canard being second, and Mr B. J, iMason's Victor third. Secretary and Mammoc also ran. Faugh-a-Ballagh took the lead at the start, and kepi it to the finish. The Hunters' Hurdle Race, of 80 boys, about a mile and a-half, brought eight horses to $he poßt. Mr W. Waaton's Aroha was firafi Mr Cotton's Malvino (second, Mr B. J. Mason's Free Lance third. The Hunt Club Steeplechase, of 50 sots, two and a-half miles, was -won by Mr Q. ' Bu&erford's Bredonhill, beating six oth«r»,
The Tally-ho Plate, of 30 soys, two miles, was a victory for the Hon. E. Bodney's Cardinal, and was remarkable for tho big dividends, £78 18s and £47 6s, for tho £2 nnd £1 Bhareß respectively m the totalisator.
