Gillies reported that m accordance with instructions from tho Presbytery he had presided at a meeting of the congregation at Temuta on the previous evening when the following resolution was unanimously passed : — " That the meeting record its deep regret at the causes which have led to Mr Mackintosh sending m his resignation, and only on the ground of tho state of bis health acquiesce m the step which he has taken. At the same time they express their warm appreciation of the earnest and faithful character of his ministry, and hope that his health may be speedily returned and a suitable sphere opened up for him." A deputation from the congregation appeared before the Presbytery m support of the resolution. The Presbytory having thus proceeded to a consideration of his resignation it was unanimously agreed to " That the Presbytery join with the congregation m expressing their deep regret at the causes which have led to Mr Mackintosh's resignation.
