Timarn Herald Offico, Saturday Evoning. AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS. Mr D. Maclean (for Messrs James A. Gracio and Co.) reports for the past week as follows :— HOUSES. At the Timaru Horso Bazaar to-day their entry comprised 62 head of all classes. Thero was a slightly bettor demand for good young draught horses, and any of these coming to hand meot with a ready sale, and aa investors m this class require them for immediate work, good condition is essential. Good sound and young saddle and harness horses are m fair demand, old and weedy boing quite unsaleable. Thoy disposed of 26 head to-day at— For medium to good draughts £15 to .£29, unbroken colts and fillies .£3 to £9 10s, hacks from £2 to £10 10s. CATTLE. At Washdyke Yards on Thursday the entry of prime beef waa very small, and, m consequence a few pens of medium quality mot with good competition, prices realised being equal to 20s per lOOlbs forprimo and 18s for medium. There was a considerable demand for wellforward steers and calving cows and heifers. They have an enquiry for a lino of the former-.. They sold 5 steers at £6 ss, 4 heifers at £3 ss^ 16 head at £2 7s, 5 yearlings at 355, and cows at from 30s to £3 10s. BHBSP. At Washdyko tho entry of all fiescriptions was small, mutton being represented by two small pens only, whioh wo Bold ai 6s Id. Thoy also disposed of 200 crossbred hoggets at 4s lOd and 74 merino ewes at Is 7d. Messrs Jonas and Bourn report for the week ended to-day: — Notwithstanding the bad weather and the holidays, they havo a fair quantity of business to report. Thoy cannot report any improvement either m price or demand for sheep. Cattle aro m a little better demand, especially fat and well-conditioned stores. The following aro thoir transactions for tho week : — Pleasant Point Yards. — They held their regular monthly sale at these yards on Monday last, tho 3rd inst. Tho day waß vory wet nnd only a small business waa done, although thero was a largo ontry. They sold 100 2tooth oroßsbred wothors at 3s sd, 2GO crossbred owes at 2s, 70 do do at 2s sd, 161 morino owes at Is sd, 75 crossbred do at la sd, 220 morino do at 7d, 41 fat do at 5b lid ; 6 small pigs at 4s, 6 do do at 53, 16 porkor and bacon pigs from 12s to 23s ; 35 calves and yoarling cattlo from 7s Gd to 30s, 6 fat steers and heifers £3 10s to £6 ss, 7 head steers and hoifors, 2-year-old, from £2 3a to £3 15s, 5 cows m milk and springing from £1 15s to £455. They may speoially mention threo horses sold on account of the Maokenzio Connty Council, viz., a bay gelding, 4 yoars off, for £27, bay maro, syoars off, £20, and an aged bay moro for £17 10s. Harness, road plant, and camp utensils at satisfactory pricos. Tho demand for draught horses ia very limited, and nono but good aorta aro saleable.
