March 16. The creditors' claims against the London branch of the Commercial Bank of South Australia are saleable at the rate of 15s for every £ indebtedness. There are, however, few sellers. Messrs Burgoyne and Co., of the Fairfield Vineyard, South Australia, and wine merchants, of Old Broad Btreet, London, who some months back submitted an offer to the Victorian Commission m connection with the Exhibition to act as agents for the winegrowers m the colony, have been prohibited by the Royal Commission from taking orders for wines m the Victorian Court, as they contemplated doing. The Agents-General for the various Australian Colonies have vigorously urged tha Colonial Office to protest against any such action being taken as that reported to have been determined on by France m regard to recidivistes. March 21. It has now transpired that there -was no foundation for tho report that the French Government hod resolved upon sending 1000 xeoidivisteß to New Caledonia. It is probable that Mr Anderson will be appointed Colonial Inspector of the Bank of South Australia. Mr Todd, C.M.G., Superintendent of Telegraphs m South Australia, will leave for Australia on the 2nd April. A shipment of fruits of various kinds, packed under the supervision of the Boyal Horticultural Society of Viotoriu, has arrived m excellent condition.
