« (By Telegraph.) Welmsoton, March 18 Captain Garner is appointed Major m tho New Zealand Volunteer Force for Hawkes Bay District. I'ho batteries of. tho Now Zealand regiment of Artillery have been formed into brigades, as follows : — Ist (North Island) Brigade — Auckland Battery, Wellington Battery, Napier Battery, Gisborno Battery, Parnell Battery, Garrison Artillery ; 2nd (South Island) Brigade — Dunedin Battery, Timaru Battery, Christchuruh Battery, Invercargill Battery, Port Chalmers Battery, Lyttelton Battery. Tho following are Oazelled Inspectors of Forests : — Messrs Stephenson, Percy Smith (Auckland), Thomas Humphreys (Taranaki), Horace Baker (Hawkes Bay), John William Allman Marchant (Wellington), John Samuel Browning (Nelson), Gerard Muller (Westland), Henry Gosling Clark (Blenheim), John Holland Baker (Christen urch), Cbas. Wm. Adams (Dunedin), John Spenco (Invercargill). A notice m the Gazelle exempts tho following goods, being materials which are suited only for, and are to be uaed and applied solely m the fabrication of goods within the colony, from duty on importation : — Boot cashmere, boot lasting, boot felt, flushing for lining, felt boots, and royal cord for Blippers, for use m the manufacture- of boots and slippers.
