The following rive tlie Immigration and Emigration returns for the month of December : — Arrivnls from tho United Kingdom — 902, New South Wales 634, Victoria 384, Tasmania 75, other places 129, total 2181. Departures for tho United Kingdom — 72, Queensland 20, New South Wales 402, Victoria 381, South and Western Australia 9, Tasmania 40, other places 32, total 959. The following are tho arrivals at the Tarious ports :— Auckland 1082, Wellington 192, Napier 1, Lyttelton 8, Dunedin 44i, Invercargill 457, total 2184. Departures from Russell 4, Auckland 382, Wellington 115, Napier 5, Lytlelton 27, Dunedin 1, Invercargill 424, total 959. The returns for the twelve months are : Arrivals — From the United Kingdom 7211, Queensland 1, New South Wales 4059, Victoria 304?, South and Western Australia 9, Tasmania 788, other places 1059, total 16,199. Departures— For tho United Kingdom 1857, Queensland 29, New South Wales 4308, Victoria 4325, South and Western Australia 13, Tasmania 428, other places 735, total 11,695. The arrivals m tho various ports of tho colony for the year -wore as follows : — Hokianga 2, Russell 45, Auck~ land 6059, Wellington 2941, Wanganui 4,. Napier 13, Nelson 14, Greymouth 42 X Hokitika 9, Lyttelton 129, Timaru 5, Onmarit 13, Dunedin 3168, Invercargtll 3755, totals 16,199.
