The weekly returns of the Bank of England, published to-day, show the total reaervn m notes and bullion to be £17,100,000, and the proportion of reserve to liabilities as 45 per cent. Paris. Jan. 8. Advices are to hand from Anam announcing a further massacre of Christians by the rebels. The Mission Station was attacked by the natives, who killed the Citholic missionary m charge of the station together with five hundred converts. General de Courcy, hearing of the massacre, promptly sent a body of French troops and inflicted severe punishment on the murderers. Cairo. Jan. 8. Monktar Pasha, the Turkish Commissioner to Egypt, advocates raising the strength of the Egyptian army to 16,000 men, m order to enable the Khedive to hold the frontier agaiiißt the Soudanese Arabs.
