Jan. 5. Mr X Q. Staveley for the New Zealand Loan aud Mercantile Asency Company reports as follows :— At tho Tinwald sale to-day thero were moderate entries of shoep and cattle, and a thin attendance of the publio. There was very little demand, and bnyera were backward. Pat mixed crossbredß brought 7s 6d to 7a 9d ; fat merino wethors ss ; mixed agea crossbred ewes and lambs 4a 9d, counting all. Beef is worth 18s per lOOlbs. Fat cows and heifers were sold at £4 to £7. 12s 6d ; forward there was a capital attendance. Five thousand sheep were entered, and there were moderate entries of cattle, horßOs and pi(js. The proceedings passed off with spirit. We had a large catalogue, and sold prime fat 2-tooth crossbreds at 9a, medium do. at 6s and 5s lOd. Judging from the entries yesterday this fixture promises to be a sneoesa.
