Wallace was totally wrecked at the entrance to Greymouth harbor yesterday afternoon. The Wallace was " taking" the bar, and while doing so a big sea struck her and canted her right on to the protective works, the rocks of which soon knocked holes m her bottom. It will be remembered the p.s. Lioness was wrecked mnch m the same way some months ago. The Wallace, we may odd, was one of the favorite boats of the Anchor Line, and has been trading on the West Coaat for over fifteen years. She was of iron, and was built m Dunedin m 1867 ; was 86 tons register ; had a beam of 15ft sin ; depth of hold, 7ft 2in, and was about 150 It long. We »ro snre the many who have travelled m the Wallace will deeply sympathise with the Company m their loss. (Bt Tblxobaph.) Auckland, Oct. 14. Arrived— Kawatiri, s.s., from Westport.
