TEMUKA RIFLE VOLUNTEERS V. TEMUKA CRICKET CLUB.

This match was played on Saturday afternoon m the Temuka Park, and resulted m a victory for the Club on th.B first innings by 61 runs. Captain Hayhurst and Mr Brysrs captained the respective teams. The latter having won the toss elected to bat, and before his men wore disposed of they bad placed 101 runs to their credit, Fish topping the score with a well-played 22. Tho others who obtained double figures were Gurr 12, Brinkman and Bryars 11, and Haines 10. Both Captain Hayhurst and Private Heap improved iv their bowling towards tho end of tho innings. On the Rifles going to the wicket, Gurr and Fish took the ball, and rapidly disposed of their opponents for 40, Bandsman Brown 10 and Private Russell 8 not out being the most successful. In following on Private Heap played well for 19, and was only stumped as timu was called. Lieutenant White and Mr Hargreaves efficiently performed tho duties of umpires.
