(Per Electric Telegraph — Copyright.) (Reuter's Agency.) [Received 9 p.m., Sept. 3rd.) Melbourne, Sept. 3. Government have received a telegram from the Agent-General, Mr Murray Smith, stating that the whole question of the reduction of telegraphic charges is unsettled pending the result of proposals made by the German delegates. Mr Service, in his reply, urged Mr Murray Smith to use every effort to obtain the desired modification of the tariff. Sydney, Sept. 3. Arrived — The Union Steamship Co. 'a Wakatipu, from Wellington, this morning. The same Company's Manaponri left for Auckland this afternoon. Mr George Augustus Sals, who is a passenger per s.s. Manapouri, will commence a tour of New Zealand at the end of next week. His opening lecture will be delivered in Auckland. [Beceived la.m., Sept. 4th.] Melbourne, Sept. 3. The man Robinson, charged with robbery from the Hotham branch of the Federal Bank, has been committed for trial, bail being accepted.
