LEGISLATIVE CODNCIL. The Legislative Council mot ut 2.30 p.m. THB EXHIBITION. In reply to Mr Chamberlain who asked the Hon. tho Colonial Secretary if it was a fact that the Exhibition was to contain other than New Zealand products the Hon. the Colonial Secretary said that some exhibits no doubt would be other than Now Zoaland products, but preference would bo given to purely New Zealand productions. NEW DILL. On the motion of Mr Shrimski the Borough of Oamaru Extension Bill was introduced and read a first time, as were also the Napier Harbor Board Empowering Bill, Sydenham Public Works Loan Validation and Wanganui Harbor Board Bills. Dr. Grace moved that if the condition of Scachff Asylum is as deplorablo as was described by the Inspector that immediate steps be taken to put it m an efiicient state of repair. After a short discussion the motion was agreed to. Mr Reynolds moved that tho letter read the previous day by Colonel Brett, relating to tho Chrißtchurch Hospital, be not printed m Hansard.—Negatived. m committee. The Council went into Committee on the Public Works Amendment Bill and the Land Transfer Bill. The former was read a third time and passed, and progress was reported on the latter. Tho Council adjourned at 5 p.m.
