AUCTIONEERS' REPORT.
Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report sales for tho week ended Saturday, May 30th, aa follows : — During tbe week three clearing' sales have been held by them. On Tuesday, at tho nurseries of Messrs Coombs and Chapman, they conducted a sale of fruit and forest trees. Although tho attendance was not large all present were evidentlypnrchasers, and when the salo was finished the demand for trees was far from being exhausted. On Thursday, at tho Goraldino Saloyarda, on account of the trustees m tho estate of John Kennedy, deceased, they hold a clearing sale of stock and properties. There was a good attendance, and although the stock generally was m bod selling condition every lot was well competed for and realised their full market value. The prices realised were — Sheep— crossbred owes m lamb 9s, crossbred lambs 6s 9d, merino ewes m lamb 4s 6d, cull merino rams 4s 3d ; cattle — fat cows £5 ss, two-year-old heifers £3, yearlings ,£1 ss, calves 13s ; horses — draughts from .£7 to .£l3, hackney and light harness horses at prices ranging from £3 12s 6d to J3ll. Properties — J-acre section m Geraldine township, ,£29; i-acro m Hilton township, with blacksmith's shop, £40, and other effects jit satisfactory rates. On Friday, at Oakley Farm, Orari, on account of James Grigg, Esq., they held a clearing sale of stock, implements, grain, land, etc. There was the largest attendance of buyers from North and South Canterbury that has attended a sale m this district for several years. The stock and plant were good of their several kinds, and Mr Grigg is to be congratulated for tho capital condition m which his stock was placed before the public, as the prices realised will fully substantiate our remarks. Prices were as follows :— Sheep— lo E.L. ewes 3J gs each, 6 E.L. ewe hoggets 5 g3 each, 10 E.L. ram hoggets 3$ gs each, E,L. ram 3 (full-month) 4i gs, 110 crossbred ewes (m lamb to E.L. rams) at 12s, 90 crossbred lambs at 9a 3d, 270 do do at 8s ; cattle — 12 dairy cows (m full profit and springing) sold at an average of .£5 2s 6d, fat bullocks £7 15s, 8 three-year-old ateera m forward condition at £4 17s 6d, 5 twoTyear-old steers at ,£2 17s 6d, 9 yearling steers and heifers at .61 13s 6d ; horses — 7 draught horses (broken and unbroken) at prices ranging from .£lO to ,£l6 10s, light harness horses from 10s to ,£l3 ; pigs — 5 sows m pig sold at an average of £5 2a 6d, 13 store pigs at £1 Is to £1 3s, 4 bacon pigs at £2 2s Cd to £3, 1 pnre Yorkshire boar at 3>4, 1 do do at .£2; implements— D.F. Plough .£lO ss, S.F. plough £o, 3-horse dray £9 15s, spring-cart ■£12, other implements at satisfactory prices ; grain, etc.— wheat 2s Bld per bushel, beans 2a ■Id, barley 2s, Derwent potatoes 3s lOd to 4s por sack. Oakley farm was passed mat a bid of £U per aero.
