THE WELLINGTON JEWEL ROBBERY.

(By Telegraph.) Christcuuboh, June 1. At the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning, before R. Beetham, Esq., R.M-, Herbert Allerdale (or Affendale), alias John Williams, was charged with burglariously entering the shop of William Jenness, at Wellington, on the night of May 26th, und stealing therefrom watches and jewellery to the value of about £800. Inspector Pender said with the permission of tho Bench he would abstain from saying much about the caso at present. He assured tho Bench that part of the stolen property hod been traced to the possession of the prisoner, and the police wero investigating the matter further. He applied for a remand till Thursday, when ho would produce all tho evidence that could bo obtained, and then ask for tho prisoner to be further remanded to Wellington. His Worship remanded prisoner as requested.
