ENGLISH CABLE.
(Per Electric Telegraph — Copyright.) (Reutee's Agency.) LReceived 1.15 a.m., May 12th.l Montreal, May 10. A large and enthusiastic meeting was held here yesterday to advocate the federation of the Empire, and a branch of the federation league was established m this city. Ottawa, May 10. Telegraphic advices have been received from Major-Geheral Middleton to the effect that he inflicted a decisive defeat on the forces of the insurgent Louis Riel, and succeeded m relieving the settlement at Prince Albert, which was beleagured by the rebels.
