SOUTH CANTERBURY COURSING CLUB'S MEETING. Judge— Mr W. Hay ; Slipper-*- Mr Jno. Meikle ; Flag Steward — Mr R. Stewart; Slip . Steward— Mr B. Hibbard ;. Field Stewards— Messrs Lawrfe, Wyllie/Ross, Macpkerson, Macdonald and WedereU. This meeting was brought to a close yesterday morning. The weather was much more enjoyable than that which prevailed on the first day, but the attendance was hardly so Jorge. Coursing was commenced about 8.30 m the flat paddocks at the back of the St. Andrew's schoolhouse. The first doga m the slips were Mr Hurt's Wandering. Friar and Mr Wise's Witch Hazel, commencing the third round of the'; Puppy States. After running a no course the dogs again met, when Wandering" Friar m a short course beat his opponent m. game style. After Scotch Mist had run her bye she met Wandering Friar for. the final course. After leaving .. the Blips both dpg3. coursed well together, but when it came to. work, Wandering Friar was .too superior for his opponent. Mr Hurt's win was a highly popular one. His dog is well put together, is fleet," and works excellently fora puppy, and we are sure he will give a good account of himself this season. Scotch Mist fakes second money, and Witch Hazel, third. 1 In the third round of the. All Aged Stakes, Scotland Yet and Market Day were first handed to the slipper. ■ Tbiswas ii long and splendid course. Market Day led, : np and scored points rapidly,, only giving Scotland Yet : a slight chance at the finish. 'Luath next beat Laburnum rather easily 1 . Market Day and 1 Luath had it .grand course for. the final. The hare was a regular racer, and gay« the dogs plenty of work, the flag finallly being raised m faror of Market Day. Luath. secures second prize, and Scotland Yet and Laburnum take £4 4s each. ■ -The following are. the results of the, courses run yesterday : — • ' ; ' Puppy Stakes — First dog, £14 14s ; second dog, £7 7a ; third dog, £3'3s.
