[By Telegraph.] THE AUCKLAND REVIEW. Auckland, April 7. The sham fight and review at Papatoi yesterday was a great success. The men hailed with cheers the announcement that Colonel Lyon had been appointed to the charge of the Auckland district. THE DUNEDIN REVIEW. Dtjnedin, April 7. It is believed that 10,000 people visited the review yesterday, though many did not enter the park, but remained on the sand-hills which closely overlook it. At Saturday's sports and Monday's review no less than £200 was taken in gate money, and £45 at tho band contest in town on Monday evening. Lieutenant McKay, who had his spine injured while jumping a howo, is improving to-day. THE MAORIS AND THE PBEMIER. (By Telegraph.) Auckland, April 7. Sydney Taiwbanga waited on the Premier this morning and presented him with an address signed by Mite Hapa and himself, as members of the Maori Self -Protection Society. She address begins by stating that the signature believe that the native people, have been benefited by the change in administration of native offices. It goes on to ask for an Act granting the Maoris self-government, and asks that Mr Stout will attend a great native meeting to be held at Waitangi on the 23rd indi. The address concludes with the request that northern natives be called to the Upper House, and points out that each of the other Maori electoral districts has a member. Mr Stout replied he thought the Maoris could have the management of their own territory in the King Country by means of a Native Committee, be did not think he would have time to attend the native meeting. With reference to the Taiwhanga scheme of granting increased power to the Native Committees, he said he deeply sympathised with the proposals. He could not give an answer with reference to the calling of a Northern native to the Upper House till he tad consulted his colleagues. : Tho: Premier left to-night for Whangarei, accompanied by Mr Blair, Engineer, to Mamino the Northern railway route. He proceeds on to Russell, and gives his address (0 tbv- Auckland citizens next Monday.
