LOSS OF THE BARQUE MATHIEU.

Auckland, March 28. A tolegrain from Kaipara announces that the barque Mathieu, 367 tons, owned by J. C. Ellis, of Newcastle, New South Wales, is wrecked at Kaipara Heads, a mile from the lighthouse, and will soon break up. All hands are saved. She was bound for Sydney with 1800 ft of baulk timber and 20,000 flitches, on her owner's acconnt. Her hull was insured m the New Zealand office for ,£SOO, of which .6250 is reinsured m the Pacific. Her cargo is supposed to be insured m an Australian office.
