CHRISTCHURCH PRODUCE MARKET.
The following is the Christchurch Corn ExI change report for the week ended Friday, the 20th March-.— The experience of the past week m the grain market has proved conclusively that the prognostications m regard to sprouted wheat have been too amply verified. The number of samples brought m damaged by the late rains quite depress buyers, who fear to purchase for shipment, dreading the disputes and rejections certain to ensue from the foregoing cause. Other cereals, owing to earlier ripening, have scarcely suffered so much, although a large percentage has met the same fate. Altogether the prospects of farmers are not as bright m this province aa could be wished. Values to date are fairly well maintained, aud the following quotations are the rnliDg jirices : — Wheat — 2s 6d to 2a 9d for prime milling ; fowl wheat, Is 9d to 2s, f.o.b. Oats— Milling, Is lid ; short feed, Is 9d to Is lOd ; long oats, Is 7d to Is Bd, f.o.b. Barley— Malting, 3s 6d to 4s; feed, Is 9d to 2s, Christchurch. Grass Seed— Rye, farmers' parcels, 2a 9d to 3s ; machine dressed, 3s 9d to 4s, f.o.b. ; cocksfoot, bright 3d to 3Jd ; inferior samples, 2d to 2Jd f.o.b.
