Sheehan was again before the Police Court to-day, when Sergoant Denny, of the Royal Irish Constabulary, gave evidence, and the depositions of witnesses previously taken before the Magistrate m Ireland were read. One of the witnesses m his depositions swore that he saw Sheehan and his brother-in-law place the bodieß m a cart and take them to the well m which they were found. Nbw Plymouth, March 18. About two thousand natives were present at the Parihaka meeting yesterday, but the<-e was no speechifying during the day, Te Whiti doclining to give an address on account of Europeans being present. A great feast took place and the waiters were m livery. A number of Waikato natives were present, and a private korero took place last evening. At the Supreme Court to-day Robert Lawless, who pleaded guilty yesterday to a charge of stealing from a dwelling, was sentenced to ten months' imprisonment. Irvine Stevens, who had pleaded guilty to stealing from a dwelling, was sentenced to 12 months. Werenui Hori and Hopa Herman, charged with cattle stealing at Horowhenua, were acquitted. A nollt prosequi was entered m the case of John Adams, who was charged with tho same offence. The other indictment against H. B. Dowles for embezzlement will not be proceeded with. The Bank of Australia's case is postponed till Tuesday. Wellington, March 18. At a meeting of the Musical and Ceremonial Committee of the Industrial Exhibition, held to-day, a sub-committee brought up a report recommending that the festival chorus to be organised include all the members of church choirs and harmonic societies of Wellington ; that a series of six performances be given fortnightly during tho Exhibition ; that Messrs B. Parker and West be appointed festival conductors ; that an orchestra be engaged to play two evenings a week ; and that an advertisement be inserted m the papers m each of the principal towns offering two prizes of £100 and £50 for a brass band contest at the Exhibition ; the band would have to be a purely Volunteer band, and consist of not less that 15 nor more than 20 members ; entries to be received until 13th April, A large numbor of prizes were also recommended to be given for singing and instrumental competition. The report was adopted and forwarded to the Executive as the recommendation of the committee. A Gazette extraordinary was issued this afternoon, containing a proclamation further proroguing Parliament from March 10th to April 28th. Blenheim, March 18. Yesterday was observed as a close holiday, the Hibernian sports followed by a St. Patrick's Day concert, constituting the amusements and passing off successfully with a large attendance. Mr Thomas Davies' mill, used for chaffcutting, but not m operation since last winter, was burned down during Monday night. There was no insurance and the cause is unknown. The building and. contents were valued at over £100. In this case and that of the burning of barley stacks a few days ago, incendiarism is suspected. A lias mill on the same site was burnt down on three previous occasions. . The sly-grog selling cases against Grove, of the Town Hotel, wore adjourned till the 26th, the defence being that the Licensing Committee acted illegally m canoelling tho license. Oahartt, March 18. The steamer Elderslie arrived to-day from London, after a passage of 56 days. During a storm a sea broke aboard and washed a cabin-boy overboard. To-day the Kurahika Estate, comprising 5500 acres of freehold, 20,000 acres of leasehold and 17,0C0 sheep, was sold at auction by Mr Maude to Mr Nicolls, of Dunedin, for £20,000. Dtobdin, March 18. The body of a man has been found on the banks of the Taieri Biver at Nenthorn. It is believed to be that of Joseph Ivess, who was drowned m the Lee Stream a short time ago. The Government have proclaimed Monday, the 23rd inßt., the anniversary of the foundation of the Province, a goneral holiday. It has been resolved to form a company with a capital of £50,000 to build a bridge across the Upper Harbor from Dunedin to Warerley. The Hon. Mr Larnach arrived this afternoon.
