SAD CASE OF SUICIDE.
A sad case of suicide occurred on Fob. 4, m Heaton -street, just above the public Pound, a Mrs Olive Kay, wife of George Kay, a bricklayer, cutting her throat with a razor. It appears from enquiries made, that the unfortunate woman had been m ft low state of health for months past, and had been attended by Dr Lovegrove, who visited her yesterday about 1 p.m. About 7 p.m., she asked one of her sons for a razor to pare her toe nails and he brought one m and left it on the dressing-table beside jher bed, and then left tho room. Shortly after 9 o'clock Mrs Cullimore, a nurse who was attending her, asked her if she would have some arrowroot, and she said " Yes." The nurse went to the kitchen to prepare it, and when going through the sitting-room on her return heard Mrs Kay groaning and a gurgling sound. On entering the bedroom she saw hlood on the bed clothes, and called out for Kay, who was m the kitchen. He at once came m, and on their lifting her up it was found her throat was cut, and she was bleeding freely. A razor which was m the bed dropped out as Mrs Kay was lifted up. Messengers were at once sent for medical assistance, but unfortunately all the doctors were away from home. Dr Lovegrove attended about 11.30 o'clock, but Mrs Kay had died some fifteen minutes before. Her windpipe was completely cut through. The matter was re--1 ported to the police, and an inquest will be held m due course. Mrs Kay was about 45 years of age, and leaves a family of fivo children, the eldest of whom is about 20 years of age. They have resided m Timaru 1 about fifteen years. :
