The Surveyor's report was then read as ollows : — "The contracts m hand have made good irogress, and are about finished. The drain pplied for to bo oleaned out by Mr Woodlead I would recommend to be done. The reek through Mr Parkes' land requires to be lone, m order that the water from the road aay set away. The culvert might be left for be present, as it will have to be replaoed by a iew one at some future time. The raising if the road might be let next Board day. As Jefsrs Brown and Parkes are agreeable to lay bßlf cost of pipe* from the Winchester to be Beach road, to take the water into ?arke»' creek, I would recommend tbe acoepanco of the offer. Re Mr Bissett's complaint ibout water being stopped m tbe ditch at Drari — I would recommend the filling up of he ditch, as it diverts the water from tbe jreek and original oourse on to the road, and ,he ditch is quite useless being so dirty ; Dut being oo the low side of the road, it does not injure the road. The drain along the lower swamp road from the upper Swamp road to Mr Pratley's, requires to be oleaned out, and pipes put across the road. The road from Winohester bridge to Mr De Benzy's corner hat been much damaged by the late floods, and to remedy this, flood-gates should be placed at the water course, three m number, and tbe water allowed to take natural conrses, and if tbe flax and shingle at the entrance of the creek was removed, it would help to remedy tbe evil complained of. The scour dam: complained of m Mr De Beniy's letter, will not injure tbe property m any way._ We will toon require some shingle, and I think tbat a pit could be opened near Mr Swinton's sherp yards, without doing any damage to anyone. The rond over the Downs, from Mr Sharp's, requires to be improved, this could be done at a cost of £— , and if not done soon will require more to do it. Ihe diversion of the water at the Middle Swamp Road will require an expenditure of &—. Tenders should be oalled for this work. The culvert at the railway crossing, Orari, is rotten. I would recommend th»t it be taken oot and a ford mado which will suit batter. The wooden culvert at Mi Young's, late Enior's, Kakabu Boad, hai caved m, and I have had the same taken out and a ford put m, a* tbe above was too small m time of flood. I have had several of the drtins along the road under maintenano< oleaned out. Mr Thomas and others hav< been asked re contributing towards cost o! cutting drain on Penny's road, as instroctec last Board day. There is a culvert on thi Wsitobi Boad. net* Biker's, which will re quire to be replaoed, a* it is gone m somi places."

Broderiek, £7 19s 3d. •rnn eoabb's ofpiobks. Tbe Bppoiutm.'Dt of oißoer* was tben considered m Committee, tbe result being that tbe following resolution was passed — " That as the funds of tbe Board ara very low, the expenditure for the future will have to be on a greotlv reduced cenle, and with a view of re organising tbo official staff and placing it on a more economical footing, the present O»er«eer be informed that bis services will have to be dispensed with, and that the Chairman bo requested to give him three months' notico m terms of his agreement."
