Owing to it having como to the knowledge of the Government tbat offers of 6s and 6* 6d a day had been refused, all relief baa been stopped. Odd Smith, who does not belong to the rants of the unemployed, was a prominent offender. The matter has been brought under the notice of the House, and measures have been taken to ensure its protection. The Land Bill is being proceeded with eaoh evening, and good progress has been made, but it will still be tome time before it leaves tho Assembly. An influential publio mooting, presided over by the Mayor, has been held, at which the Ohiof Justice and Bishop Halu were present, when resolutions were passed recording a p&thotio and solemn protest against the recidivist o movement.
