Brand, ex-Speaker of tho House of Commons, has been raised to the peerage under the title of Viscount Hampden. . The death is announced of the Bight Hon. Thoa. Milner Gibson, formerly a well-known politician and member of the Paimerston and Russell administration 1855-1865, aged 77.
