DESTRUCTIVE FIRE AT AUCKLAND.
(By Teleqeaph.) Auckland, Oct. 23. : A fire broke out at nine o'clock m the ' upper floor of the warehouse of Arthur . Heather, merchant, m Custom House street, I but w<ii suppressed by the Fire Brigade. Tho damage by flro amounted to only a few hun- < dred pounds, but considerable damage ie i beliered to hare taken place by water, which ! flooded the ground floor and cellars. The ( insurances on the warohouaa were £2000 m 1 the Norwich Union ; on the stock, £5000 m the Norwich Union, iv the National £1000, m the United £3000 (of which £2000 was i reinsured m the South British). TheNorwioh ] Union wa§ also partly reinsured. The fire i originated m a case of Oilman'a stores stud i general merchandise stored round the hatcU* I way of the lift. The latter Company is re-insured m tho Pbcenix for £1000. The buildine was insured m the Norwich Union For £2030. Tub totil insurances amount to £13,000.
