A loan of £200,000 for the City of Melbourne is advertised, the dato for opening the tenders being sth October. The minimum has been fixed at par, and the rate of interest at 4\ per cent per annum. It is now generally considered improbable that any amicable agreement between France and China will result from the negotiations which recently took place between the Marquis Tseng and the French Ministry. The report that Parnell, the Member for Cork, had been shot is confirmed, but his injuries hare not as yet proved fatal. At tho present moment the extent of his injuries are unknown. It is believed that the shot wag fired accidentally by an OrangemaD during ths holding of a Parnellite meeting m County Tyrone. The greatest excitement is reported to prevail m Dublin. A Committee has been oppointei m London to select the most suitable dredger for the purpose of dredging Melbourne harbor. The Trust hare concluded their deliberations upon the report of Mr Ford, the secretary of the Trust Cjmmittee, and have resolved to recommend the purchase of a dredger of the same type as the Bunyip, now at Melbourne, tho estimated cost of which is £28.O!H). The indignities which King Alfonso of Spain was subjected to during bis recent visit to Paris have roused a feeling of resentment at Madrid, where a disorderly mob has menaced the French Embassy.
