The return of lumi paid under the Boads and Bridges Construction Act shews that £6678 has gone to main roads and £1550 to district roads.
The raport of tha Joint Home Committee reoommends that if the House consider iv necessary to make any alteration or additions to the Parliamentary Building) during the recess, the front north-east wing should first be proceeded witfa, and that the plans which had been before the Committee should be adopted.
The Local Bills Committee find the Timaru Mechanic! Institute Bill is a local Bill ; that it complies with the Standing Orders, and recommends it be proceeded with. I understand that if the Bill comes on Mr Butter will oppose it as being not neceetary for the ate of the members of the Institute, and .limply saddling them with an expense for the ns» of other people. The Bill, howerer, is hot likely to come on.
The Homo was oocupied a long time this afternoon diioussing the report on the petition of Andrew Thomson, which was made the opportunity of attaoks on Mr M. W. Green, who presented it, on account of the alleged blasphemous language it contains.
