CORRESPONDENCE.
WHO 18 TO BLAME? TO THE EDITOR OP TUB TIMABU HERALD. Sib, — The Fri"lijterian congregation nt Pleasant Point hod its usual solemn deuioxnor slightly disturhrd on Sunday evening by tho intrusion of a stranger m a stat- cf inloiicalion. The Preacher, however, turned the unf.irtunate occurrence to go d acount by making it the bids of a short temperance address, m which ho exhorted his hearers to band together and wage war by precept and example against intemperance. But this does not exonernto thoso who are responsible m the matter of supplying liquor nor the guardiin of peace and good order. I hope the Chairman of the Licensing Beech and Inspector of Police will note thi9 case. It would be a fortunate thing for the Point if the relations bet men publirans and police were as affectionate as at Temuka. There is no part of South Canterbury where the temperance cau«o has made a more deep and firm impression, nnd therefore cates like the abovo prove all the moro reprehensible. I am, iScc, Blub Bibbon.
