We are awaro thero is a strong prejudico m the minds of some ngainst Southland on tho ground of its climate, and that it won't grow Wheat. All wo can say is that it does grow Wheat, and well, and nearly ull over, yielding on un average FAR MORE PER ACRE THAN IN THIS DISTRICT, Only it is advisable not to trust to Spring Sowing, but alwuys put it m m tho Autumn. Wo havo a number of SAMPLES nt our Office, grown m various parts, collected by a member of our firm, who has lately been over a largo portion of Southland, and who will be glad to give every information. FOR ROOT CROPS, OATS AND GRAZING, Southland can compoto with nny part of New Zealand, and iv DAIRY PRODUCE and FATTENING STOCK cannot bo surpassed. So that with the facilities afforded by the railways for Bending Stock nnd Produco m all directions, and tho success of the FREEZING PROCESS, enabling Butter, Cheese, &c., to bo sent to England. Farmers never need want a Market. The CLIMATE, which formerly was wet and cold, has of late years, as tho country has been drained und settled upon, become much drier, und thero is no doubt will continue to improve us Cultivation progresses. In Southland, as elsewhere, tho good Farmer, who is always well up with ths seasons, und bows ground properly prepared, succeeds ; while the indifferent Farmer, who is always behindhand, and who only half understands his business fails — and it is from him wo hear of tho bad climate, Lurvosta failing antl crops not ripening. LAND IS LOW IN PRICE IN SOUTHLAND, Iv comparison with Canterbury, through eparcity of settlement. Until lately large tracts of country wero inaccessible, through want of roads, and other largo blocks wero held by companies. NOW THERE ARE RAILWAYS IN EVERY DIRECTION, And Produce can bo got to Market easily and with Little Cartage. AND NOW the companies aud other largo landowners aro all anxious to sell at the same time, consequently there is an immense amount iv the market, and it is tho BEST TIME TO BUY. Land which, m this District, would fetch £8 und £10 per acre, is to be had thcro for £3 upwards, often on tho Easiest Terms. Districts which two years ago were almost uninhabited, may now bo seen covered with homesteads, nnd land m all directions under the plough i and it is only tho matter of a few years, when tho land, now so cheap, will bo as dear as it is here. Tho SOIL m many parts is quito equal to tho rich Hats about Wuimato and Tomuka. Full particulars can bo obtained at our Office. 6-14 1270 HALL & lIEASON. MONEY.
