COURSING.
On Friday Inst the South Canterbury Coursing Club held tbe second meeting of the season at Pareara, whea the President's Cup wet run. The weather was very uncomfortable m the morning, but an improvement took place about noon. A start was made abont eleven o'clock, and hares' being numerous, the ( Cup was won by two o'clock. At the conclusion Mr A. Turnbull, manager of the , Pareora Estate, treated the spectators to a capital luncheon, Mr Turnbull receiving three , hearty cheers for his hospitality as his guests ; parted from him. The following is tbe record of the running :— i President's Cur, for an unlimited number , of all-aged dogs at £5 os each. First , dog to receive £25 ; second, £15 j third, : £12 10s. Mr Hurt's Lady Bay beat Mr Maophenon's j Phantom Mr King's Jowish Maid beat Mr Thomson's , Bomrie~6cot!and~~ ' " - -. , Mr Turnbull's Star beat Dr Maoiniyre's ' Border Lais . , Mr Turnbull's Benicia Boy beat Mr Dale's Argyle , Mr Thomson's Duchess of Connaogbt btat , Mr Hibbard's Shamrock. - , FIE3I TIBS.
