ANDREWS. , A public meeting of the householders was . held m the ichoolroom on Monday evening, . the 23rd inst., at 7.30, for the purpose of receiving the report and electing a new Committee for the year. The opening day of the present year (January 9tb) shewed 43 on the school register (exclusive of those under five years of ft**) and an average attendance for the first week of 88.6. Your Committee, after due consideration, brought »he compulsory clauses of the -Act into force on the 14th Maroh last. At the request of your Committee Mr Bone readily undertook to conduct ao evening school as an experiment, leaving it optional with him to discontinue it should it not prove a suoceis. ' Tlio meeting then proceeded to elect by 1 ballot the Committee for the ensuing year, - Mr Laurie and Mr Daily acting as scrutineers. ' The ballot resulted m tho election of the ■ Rev. li. C. It was ' resolved — " That the Committee meet on the second Monday m each month at 7.30 p.m." '■ That a foitnigbt's holiday be granted during 1 tho hnrvest season, to begin on 'lhunday, the ' 261h." In reference to tbe appointment of vUitorn, it was poiuttd out that there waa no provision made for the same by the Education Act, but thnt tbe teacher sh >uld be requtsted to send up to tho School Cornmil tee a monthly report of nil matters wbiub m his opinion may require urgent attention.
