TO TUB IDITOE OV THB TIMARTT HBHALD. Sib, — Permit me through your columns to correct "John Brown." This is not the first, time that volunteers have undertaken soldiers' work m New Zealand. Some years ago, when there was fighting m the Waikatn, a company of Thames Volunteers went to the front and did good lorvice. I am, &c., T.B.V. [Oar correspondent is quite right. Tho Volunteers at Napier, Wanganui, and other places during the last war also saw active nervico, and, m foot, did more for tho colony than the Imperial troops. This fact, however, doos not dotraot from the orcdit due to thoae who went to the West Coast on tho prosent occasion.— Ed. T.M.]
