WRECK OF THE JAMES A. STEWART.
[By Tblkqbaph.J AUCKLAND, Oct. 9. Vary little fuller news was receired from the wreck of the James A. Stewart to-day. A. telegram to HcKenzie and Boss conveys the intelligence that there can be little doubt but that all on board loßt their lives. Messages from other sources are to the same effect, and hope of their safety is now abandoned. When the Teasel left here she was manned by John McLellan (Captain), Gardner, Ferguson, Miller, Tagge, Qanunel, Equitely, and Mason. It is not improbable, however, that some of these men hare since left the vessel and been replaced by others. Steps hare been taken to protect the vessel and cargo. Oct. 10. A telegram from HelensTille to day states there was a strong south-west wind and heavy sea yesterday on the North Spit at Kaipara Heads. The James A. Stewart is likely to break up. Her rudder ia gone and her sternpost driven two feet above the deck. There is no chance of getting her 'off. There is no sign of the crew, and their bodies are believed to have washed away.
