[Pan "Timaru Herald" Special Wire.] New Plymouth, Dec. 26. A moeting of Mr Courtney's creditors ■was held on Wednesday, when it was decided to accept a deed of assignment. A statement of hia liabilities shows , the claims of secured creditors to amount to L 30,096, and of unsecured L 11.517. A woman named Henrietta E. McDonald was found dead m the Hualoke rivor yesterday morning. It is supposed' she walked into the river and was too intoxicated to get out. At the inquest to-day a verdict of " Found drowned " was returned. A man was cut on the head with a quoit yesterday, and is not yet out of danger. A native chief named Panatiki, who was taken to the Hospital on Monday dangerously ill, succumbed to the malady on Tuesday morning. He was sufferint, from fever similar to that prevalent at Parihaka, and he had caught it from natives who had visited the prophet. Wellington, Dec. 27. The wet weather completely spoiled the holiday. The athletic contest between Wellington and Wanganui took place, and the former one by won event. Tho latter, who included all tho best bowlers m Canterbury, leaving their opponents very weak, went m first, and stayed there all day, making 461. Ashby made 112 . out of the 153 on the board when he loft. Alpe (formerly of Auckland) made 97, Watson 85, and G. Turner 66, and there were several other fair scores. A serious accident occurred at Waikotiaiti yesterday. A young man named Saddlor, of Port Chaltnerd, had his arm shattered to pieces with a gun. He was out shooting, and m crossing a wire fonce he foil, and the gun wont off. It is feared he will have to havo his arm amputated.
